School Council

Here at Alderwood Primary we have an established and extremely active School Council.  We have two representatives from Years 2 - 6 who actively get involved in all areas of school life.  They meet the Full Governing Body once a year and report on their achievements.  They also get to lead on many fund raising activities for a variety of charities.

Current members from Spring 2018 are jessica, Kevin, Emmy Jane, Hannah, Albert, Ange Benoit, Sally and Andesha.

They are the voice of all pupils at Alderwood and take their role extremely seriously.  We elect new members via a secret ballot every January.  If you are interested in becoming part of the new School Council, please look out for further information in the Spring term.

The new team are busy panning their first event, which is fundraising for Red Nose Day on 24th March.

Come on, do something funny for money!

17th November 2015 - We were very pleased to welcome Deansfield School Council to Alderwood this afternoon.  It was great to show them around our school and talk about similarities and differences.  We are visiting their school tomorrow.

24th February and 1st March - Alderwood and Deansfield have continued the link between their school councils by inviting each other to their schools for lunch.  Each group of children spent a whole lunch time in the other school.  We are going to meet again to discuss how munchtimes could be improved in each school.  Bothe schools welcomed their visitors superbly.  One Deansfield pupil said 'I like Alderwood children. They are really kind.'  How lovely to hear!

School Council helped advertise our visiting athlete by designing posters to promote his visit in conjunction with Sport Relief.  All children had the opportunity to complete a circuit alongside him.  Watch thic space for photos of the event.

Kieran and Sarah visited Willow Dene for lunch to meet with other members of school councils from across the partnership.  They discussed in detail our proposed coversion to a MAT and thought of some really great ways for the schools to get together, including holding an annual values day.

School Council wowed our Governors this week when they presented their end of year report.  They spoke about the changes that have happened at Alderwood since September, projects that they have directly been incolced with and their future polans for the next group of children.

Take a look at the presentation below.
