Aims, Values & Ethos

Alderwood Primary School is a values-based learning community, committed to the education of the whole child.  We firmly believe that high aspirations are pivotal to our children's success as learners.  We pride ourselves on delivering a rich, broad and immersive curriculum, offering real experiences through extensive off site trips and visits.

We believe that positive, respectful and nurturing relationships are the context within which great learning occurs.

Alderwood is an inclusive school meeting the needs of a diverse range of learners.  We have our own onsite Designated Special Provision for children with a diagnosis of Autism and we also host our Trust's SEMH Nurture Provision.

We are committed to meeting the needs of our community and value what this brings to the school, celebrating and valuing the rich cultural heritage of our families and the unique contributions of individuals from all experiences, cultures and backgrounds.

Our core values underpin all that we do here at Alderwood.   We have agreed on these specific values through discussion with the whole school, in class, small groups and, finally, with our School Council.  These values are explored through weekly assemblies and our dedicated PSHCE time.
