Sports Week

Sport's Week last week was phenomenal and culminated in our wonderful Sport's Day. My first at Alderwood and an absolute delight.

The first break in a long spell of hot days was welcomed and as the thunder rumbled past us at Avery Hill Park, Key Stage One children charged along the race track showing off their great sporting prowess. The whole school adopted one or more or the 'Spirit of the Games'; key elements to all competition and collectively were a huge credit to the school, I could not have asked for more.  Key Stage 2 had a marvellous afternoon of demonstrating their athletic capability. we really have some shining stars which I hope to showcase to local clubs in the next academic year.

Tanjim in Year 4 told Ms Baynes how he "loved being in a team" and he was excited to watch and cheer for every member of red team as well as his own class.
He said how he cheered continuously throughout the afternoon and he's never shouted so much!
Mrs Ward, our PE support teacher wanted to give Paccia Sams a special mention for "being so good with the little ones, setting up and competing".
A huge thank you from me to Oak class; without their support and proactive attitude Sport's Day wouldn't have run so smoothly and last but not least a massive THANK YOU to the parents, grandparents, carers and friends  who came to support the children and participate; their audience and inspiration!
The following week we celebrated Sport's Day with our vey youngest children, when FS 1 participated in a range of races, including balancing a beanbag, riding a trike and a good old fashioned running race.  This fabulous event ended with a picnic at Avery Hill Park.
Finally, we celebrated Lewis' triumphant attempt at the annual swimming gala.  He swam his heart out in the Boys 25m freestyle race and although didn't secure a medal, still did us proud.
Roll on next year!
