The Fighting Temeraire

We have immersed our children in the famous painting by Tuner, which hangs in the National Gallery, for our current whole school project.

The painting, 'The Fighting Temeraire' shows the last journey of the celebrated gunship which had fought valiantly in Lord Nelson's fleet at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Thirty three years later, decaying and no longer in use, she was towed up the Thames to be broken up in a Rotherhithe shipyard.

Alderwood children are bringing this learning to life with visits to the National Maritime Museum, Trafalgar Square and of course, the National Gallery.

Look out for the exciting learning outcomes which will be displayed around the school.
